Gagliardi Gallery in London

Following 45 years of history on the iconic King’s in Chelsea, London, Gagliardi Gallery professionals alongside the prestigious London Art Biennale curators will be handling the artworks and providing their guidance to the presentation of the Chianciano Biennale. A unique network of 13 galleries in the medieval part of Chianciano and a 3000 square metre art museum will offer a stimulating and dynamic canvas to present the selected contemporary artworks and collateral exhibitions.

We are looking forward to seeing the outcome and the international perspective flying down from London to the Chianciano Biennale.

What’s new at the Chianciano Biennale 2022

The Chianciano Art Museum has announced the 7th edition of the Chianciano Biennale. This landmark exhibition showcases contemporary art selected from all around the world presented across a stunning network of 13 distinct art galleries and museum spaces.

The Chianciano Biennale is located in the heart of Tuscany, taking place from Saturday 6th – Sunday 28th August 2022. The Chianciano Art Museum has been showcasing thousands of international artworks for over a decade, making this 2022 exhibition the 7th edition of the Biennale.

The Biennale is presented over a network comprising the thirteen Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum in the town of Chianciano, all organised by Gagliardi Gallery in London and the Chianciano Art Museum. During the 2022 Biennale, artists and attendees alike will roam through the galleries to soak up the permanent collections, the Biennale and other summer exhibitions on display in Chianciano. The hundreds of guests are made up of critics, international artists, collectors and, above all, a new audience and atmosphere without filters. The cluster of galleries are located up on the hill of the Medieval Old Town, falling back on stretches of the rich green and gold landscape that Tuscany breathes.

Encompassing over 100 selected artists and artworks, the Chianciano Biennale artworks will be meticulously hung across a cluster of the Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum. The remaining walls of the Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum will glow with a showcasing of seven other exhibitions ranging from Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec at the Savoy Gallery to Giorgio Armani at the Chelsea Gallery. The full list of exhibitions and their details can be found on the Chianciano Biennale website.

To truly honour the dynamic talent of contemporary artists, the Chianciano Biennale offers sixteen awards. A grand total of €2500 will be prized to the artist with the judged best work. Others include being exhibited at the prestigious London Art Biennale 2023, Chianciano Biennale’s sister exhibition, or an artist critique written by the organisation International Confederation of Art Critics.

There are no submission requirements for the Chianciano Biennale, the applications are open to all living artists without discrimination and wholly on the basis of the artwork itself. The selection process is rigorous and allows critics and collectors to admire works of excellent quality both in the Art Museum and in the Clancianum Galleries, where contemporary art creates a magnificent contrast with the historic architecture of the medieval town. Longevity and influence are married at the Chianciano Biennale and provide an unmissable platform for artists to further their career in an international setting. Please visit the Artist Submission page on the Chianciano Biennale website to participate.

Entry is free for all. To visit the Chianciano Biennale, simply discover the exhibition tucked within the warmth of Tuscany and walk in to absorb cutting contemporary art.

Chianciano Biennale 2022 – Selection process open

The prestigious Chianciano Biennale announces the confirmation of their 2022 exhibition in Tuscany, Italy. The summer exhibition is a refined coalescence of contemporary art by the Chianciano Art Museum and is now open to artists submissions.

Chianciano Biennale Clancianum Art Galleries & Art Museum

Thousands of international visitors gravitate to the town of Chianciano each summer of the Biennale to elope with its dynamic art. Located in the winding streets of the Old Town that the hills of Tuscany demand, the Chianciano Biennale is nothing short of atmospheric. This playful contrast between the Old Town and the cutting contemporary art is an ode to the ever expansive depth of culture throughout time.

Curated by the Chianciano Art Museum and working with the team of the London Art Biennale, participation in the Chianciano Biennale is an esteemed event for artists. Since their birthdate of 2009, the Chianciano Biennale has had a universal appeal and is recognised for their cultural connections by critics, artists and collectors alike. The London Biennale, which takes place at the historical Chelsea Old Town Hall each year and, like the Chianciano Biennale, makes a special consideration for charity and awards such as cash prizes and critiques by the International Confederation of Art Critics.

The Clancianum Galleries and the Art Museum will display seven other exhibitions under the unbrella of the Biennale. The culture continues past contemporary art in the other galleries, exhibitions including artists such as Giorgio Armani at the Chelsea Gallery and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec at the Savoy Gallery.

Chianciano and its surrounding areas are saturated in the richness of European history. The town of Chianciano Terme dates back millennia to the Etruscans and Romans and nestled amongst some of Italy’s most important locations for culture and nature. From Chiancinano visitors can see the Cetona and Amiata mountain peaks amongst the hills of century old beech trees. Cities of global importance are just an adventure away including Montepulciano, Siena, Florence and Rome.

The Chianciano Biennale has spaced the walls of their thirteen galleries (the  Clancianum Galleries) and the Art Museum for one hundred talented artists. The plethora of submissions are diligently analysed and weaved through by their museum professionals. The Chianciano Biennale takes place from the 6th August until the 28th August 2022 and is free entry for all.
